Founded in 1999, Care Tenders, a Northfield based company, provided scheduled shuttle service between Northfield and the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP). In 2007 Care Tenders was acquired by EcoTrans, a newly formed corporation focused on expanding transportation options ‘South of the Twin Cities Metro’, with a firm commitment to more environmentally friendly strategies and vehicles. EcoTrans regularly provides transportation for students, faculty, departments, and staff at Carleton and St. Olaf Colleges as well as Northfield residents, businesses, and community groups
EcoTrans consistently solicits client and community input for ideas to enhance our service. We evaluate these in the context of our capacity, efficiency, environmental impact, and profitability. Current economic conditions require that we modify our pricing structure and operating basis to ensure viability. We have attempted to be creative and true to our mission. In this context, we have chosen to do the following:
- Create an innovative Online RideShare Calendar that stimulates more efficient utilization of each shuttle by offering variable reduced pricing for all riders on multi-passenger trips.
- Purchase our second Hybrid Prius to further reduce the environmental impact and cost of lower occupancy trips.
- Institute a moderate ‘E’ surcharge for FlexTime Transportation.
- Create ‘E Specials’ that will be posted on our ‘Ride Share’ site that offer dramatic round trip savings on specific dates and times.
As part of this same agenda, we are enhancing our web presence and encouraging occasional and regular riders as well as businesses to use our online reservation system to add greater efficiency and cost control to our operation. As always, your comments and patronage are greatly appreciated. |
